Anxiety & Depression
The Weight Is Real. And It's Treatable.
Racing thoughts, constant worry, emotional flatness, loss of motivation — these aren't character flaws. They're symptoms with specific causes and effective treatments.
Functioning Doesn't Mean You're Fine
You get through the day. You show up for work, for your kids, for your partner. From the outside, nobody would guess. But inside, you're running on fumes — and the anxiety or heaviness or numbness has become your baseline.
One of the biggest myths Joy hears is that you need to be in crisis to benefit from therapy. You don't. If anxiety or depression is stealing your quality of life — even if you're technically "functioning" — that's enough reason to get help.

Our Approach
We Treat the Root, Not Just the Symptoms
Our therapists don't just teach you coping skills (though those matter too). They help you understand what's driving the anxiety or depression — whether it's unprocessed experiences, learned patterns, relationship dynamics, or life transitions.
CBT — identifies and restructures the thought patterns fueling your symptoms. Practical, structured, and evidence-based.
EMDR — when anxiety or depression is rooted in past experiences. Processes the memories driving the emotional patterns.
IFS — helps you understand your anxious or depressed "parts" with compassion rather than fighting them. Reduces internal conflict.
Therapy at Lotus Rose isn't just talking to a friend. As Joy puts it: "There's so much more to it than that. There's training, hours, and dedication that it takes to show up as a therapist."
Common Questions
Anxiety & Depression FAQs
How do I know if I have anxiety or depression?
Anxiety often shows up as racing thoughts, constant worry, physical tension, difficulty sleeping, irritability, and a sense that something bad is about to happen. Depression can present as persistent sadness, loss of interest, fatigue, difficulty concentrating, changes in appetite, withdrawal from people, and feeling empty or hopeless. Many people experience both simultaneously.
What therapy approaches work best for anxiety?
At Lotus Rose, we use CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) to restructure anxious thought patterns, IFS (Internal Family Systems) to understand the 'anxious parts' of yourself with compassion, EMDR to process underlying experiences driving the anxiety, and somatic approaches to address where anxiety lives in your body. Your therapist matches the approach to what's driving your specific symptoms.
Can therapy help if I've been anxious or depressed for years?
Yes. Long-standing anxiety and depression often have roots in past experiences, learned patterns, or unprocessed events that therapy can address directly. Many clients who've lived with symptoms for years experience significant improvement once they find the right therapeutic approach. It's never too late to start.
Do I need medication for anxiety or depression?
Not necessarily. Many clients improve with therapy alone. However, some people benefit from a combination of therapy and medication. Our therapists can coordinate with your prescribing physician or refer you to a psychiatrist if medication might be helpful alongside therapy. We'll discuss all options during your treatment.
